Database Developer (Healthcare IT)

Hybrid – 2 days per week in Mansfield
£29,000 per annum

Cubiq are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a leading Healthcare IT solutions provider as a Database Developer, responsible for providing technical expertise to support the design of databases within our client’s software products, ensuring they operate with optimal effectiveness and in line with quality and security standards.

They will collaborate with the developers, project managers and operations team, innovating, influencing, and driving database design to deliver customer requirements.

The successful applicant will be working on a hybrid basis with 2 days per week required in their Mansfield office, and will be working as part of a high functioning team of Database Developers improving the digitisation of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and delivering data migration projects, from third party and in-house systems
- Designing and development of our product database components
- Database optimisation
- Supporting operational database systems
- Developing stored procedures using procedural languages
- Tuning SQL queries and be able to read and understand query plans
- Understanding the ongoing challenges of using a RDBMS in an enterprise environment including managing performance and maintenance activities

Required Experience:
- BSc degree in Computer Science or relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- An ability to understand front-end users and project requirements with a problem solving attitude
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience using a modern RDMBS, especially PostgreSQL
It is essential to have up-to-date experience of using a modern RDBMS. Microsoft SQL is preferable and Postgres SQLServer is a distinct advantage.

Complex SQL
The ability to write complex SQL, tune queries and be at home reading a query plan. Be able to investigate query performance on operational databases.

Relational Database Design
The ability to recognise a well-designed database. An understanding of database normalisation and the compromises that sometimes necessitate breaking it. An understanding of indexing, constraints etc.

Data Migration
Ideally, experience of migrating data into production systems. At the least, an awareness and understanding of the processes involved and familiarity with some case studies
