Structural Analysis Engineer (Propulsion Units)

Duration: 6 months
Working Remotely: Remote work is possible.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in the development of structural analysis methods for propulsion unit structures certification. In this role, you will have the opportunity to establish technical procedures, standard analysis practices, and support test campaigns to validate stress analysis tools and methods as part of our propulsion structures compliance strategy. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating tools for stress analysis pre/post-processing automation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine structural analysis methods for propulsion unit structures certification.
- Establish and document technical procedures and standard analysis practices.
- Provide support for test campaigns to validate stress analysis tools and methods.
- Create tools for automation of stress analysis pre/post-processing tasks.
- Focus on developing methodologies for various analysis topics, including linear and non-linear static analysis, fatigue analysis (LCF, HCF), fracture mechanics analysis, and vibration analysis (modal, frequency, harmonic response, eigenmodes analysis, random/spectral input vibration, and fatigue analysis).

Requirements:
- An engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, with application to aerospace engines and/or turbomachinery and/or electric engines.
- In-depth knowledge of stress analysis methods in fatigue and damage tolerance assessments, time/frequency domain dynamic analysis, and random vibration analysis.
- Experience in scripting using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, Bash Scripting, VBA, etc.
- Scripting experience in HW tcl is a plus.
- Experience in FEA model correlations with test results.
- Advanced knowledge of stress analysis methods following established standards for CFRP and metallic structures, particularly for complex assemblies.
- Familiarity with analytical hand calculation methods such as Bruhn, Peterson, HSB, VDI, etc.
- Confidence in the application of optimization techniques.
- Extensive working experience with the commercial implicit FE code OPTISTRUCT, and corresponding pre-and post-processing tools (HyperMesh and HyperView) is a must.
- Professional experience in NASTRAN (especially SOL 107, SOL 108, SOL 110, SOL 111, SOL 112, SOL 128, SOL 400) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Aviation Vibration standards such as DO160G-Chapter 8 and MIL-STD-810 and other applicable ISO standards is a plus.
- Knowledge of Analysis Validation with experimental methods (especially relating to CS-E type means of compliance such as the AMC E 650) is a plus.
- Motivated, initiative-driven problem-solving attitude with a high level of self-reliance and an autonomous, target-oriented work style.
- Fluent English language skills are essential; fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer will work alongside a team of multi-skilled, automation and PLC engineers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing and undertaking accurate and efficient changeovers
- Providing on the job training to members of the production team
- Ensuring continuous improvement of machinery performance through the accurate recording/reviewing of the main downtime causes and solutions, and the implementation of engineering improvements
- Ensuring effective shift handovers by liaising with other production technicians

- Adopting a flexible approach within a fast moving environment by recommending and supporting improvement initiatives to improve line and individual performance

- Ensuring all documentation and record systems are maintained to high standards on a daily basis in accordance with ISO 9001:2000
- Maintaining a high degree of both product and personal safety in accordance with HSE, EHO and HMCE requirements

- Apprentice trained in electrical engineering
- Multi-skilled.

- Degree or Further Degree in Electronic Engineering or Equivalent
- Experience of full cycle product development (concept to adoption)

Your Role and your Team:
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Quality Production Organization, you will implement the supplier quality framework of the organisation. Supplier management including supplier selection, qualifications, development, audits, assessments as well fulfilment of the companies Supplier Quality Requirements, in line with company requirements and certifications (e.g., Part 21 G/J, EN9100) will be the responsible working task. In addition, the collaboration and support of the incoming inspection area complete your daily business.
 
Your Day to Day:
- Prepare, maintain and conduct supplier audits as well assessments
- You act as the APQP Leader for your Supplier Portfolio and approve FAI and PPAP
- Create Incoming Inspection plans and carry out inspection to confirm supplier quality
- Manage root cause analysis and corrective action plans for non-conformances
- Define, analyse and control supplier performance as part of regular quality reviews and define supplier improvement plans.
- Maintain digital data quality within using IT applications to contribute to real time supply chain health monitoring.
- Identify conflicts early and drive successful resolution across people, processes and products.
- Support and mentor your internal stakeholders and suppliers according to their development needs in topics concerning Industry Standards and Aviation Regulations.
 
Your Profile:
- 5 years of experience working with Quality Management Systems in Aerospace
- Auditor or experience acc. to EN9100/ ISO 19011
- Experience on problem solving tools (e.g., 9S, 8d, Ishikawa, 5-Whys)
- Knowledge of manufacturing and inspection processes in Aerospace 
- Fact-driven, resilient and personally committed to achieving success, problem-solving mindset
- Able to work well in teams and autonomously, take the lead, when necessary
- Willingness to travel worldwide
- Engineering Degree or Technician in Aerospace

Your role: and your team:
We are looking for an outstanding Avionics (Senior) Systems Engineer to join our innovative team that will shape the future of urban e-mobility. This position will report into our Avionics Engineering Manager and will contribute, as part of an integrated cross functional team, to the systems architecture, design, test, certification, and delivery of the eVTOL. You will take responsibility for the development, test, and certification of subsystems and components and ensure their compliance to safety standards.
 
Your day to day:
- Design system architecture for one or more of the above-mentioned systems in accordance to ARP4754 and ARP4761
- Take ownership of your system(s) and manage its whole implementation cycle
- Work together with other departments and external suppliers to find the simplest and most elegant solutions
- Produce system documentation for your assigned system(s): requirements, interfaces, plans, certification documentation, etc
- Write test requirements and participate in test activities at system and aircraft level
- Manage supplier activities within your system(s) scope
- Develop, challenge, and continuously improve systems and items’ technical concepts
 
Your profile:
- More than 10 years of experience in at least one of the following systems: Cockpit Display System (ATA 31), Integrated Modular Avionics (ATA 42), Navigation (ATA 34).
- Experience in working with and managing external suppliers.
- Experiences with MOC SC-VTOL and in general with certification of civilian A/C is a bonus.
- Hands-on experience with software development and architecture is beneficial.
- Experience with hardware and software development process according to DO 178B/C and DO 254 and familiarity with ARP4754 is highly appreciated.
- Experience with Cyber Security is a bonus.
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) is appreciated.
- Positive, target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required.
- Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
- Engineering degree (M. Eng. or M. Sc. preferred) in relevant Engineering fields required.
