Your role and your team:
As a Verification and Certification engineer you will be part of the interdisciplinary Propulsion IPT (Integrated Project Team) responsible for the development of the Propulsion system for our revolutionary eVTOL.
You will report directly to the Engineering Manager – Systems Verification while allocated to the Propulsion IPT. The IPT is responsible for designing and developing the components of our propulsion system across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.
From parts to systems development, you will play a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.
Your Day to Day:
- Support the development of the propulsion system, comprising of parts and assemblies, throughout the product lifecycle
- Specification and support of system validation and verification (V&V) activities according to acceptable means of compliance
- Interact with multidisciplinary individuals and departments, including design, testing and external suppliers, to define, document and execute the V&V activities
- Author test plans and work with the Test team to execute them
- Manage requirements through their lifecycle and ensure their complete verification
- Negotiate with certification authorities for the definition of Means of Compliance, qualification and certification activities
- Create certification strategies and compliance reports
- Generate and manage the Propulsion system V&V plan
- Generate and maintain V&V processes and procedures
Your Profile:
The following are required:
- University degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (MSc/M.Eng preferred – equivalents may be considered depending on industry experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the aerospace industry
- Experience in verifying/certifying aircraft propulsion systems; preferably CS-E, CS/FAR-23, -25 or -27
- Experience in planning, developing and managing V&V activities
- Hands-on experience of defining and executing Propulsion test activities
- Experience developing, decomposing and working to system requirements, preferably to ARP4754A or an equivalent standard
- Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations
- High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously
- Awareness of Part 21J contents and requirements
- Strong motivation and passion to contribute developing a new technology and bringing it to the market
- Target-oriented, driven work style with willingness to proactively overcome impediments in everyday activities and interaction with colleagues

Your role and your team:
We are looking for a Design Engineer with experience in high speed AC Drive integration to join our innovative team that will shape the future of urban e-mobility.
This position will report into our Engineering Manager for Electric Propulsion and will contribute, as part of an integrated cross-functional team, to the propulsion systems architecture, design, certification, and delivery of the eVTOL.
You will have a chance to shape the future of mobility by not only defining the key elements of the propulsion systems but also developing components, coordinating with regulatory partners and leading suppliers.
You will take responsibility for the integration, testing and fine tuning of eVTOL’s propulsion and actuation system AC drives (electric motor, motor control algorithm, inverter hardware, inverter software, sensors) and power systems while ensuring their compliance to relevant safety standards.
Your Day to Day:
- Design, integration, lab testing and tuning of AC Drives.
- Close cooperation with electrical machine design engineers for motor parameters and performance.
- Close cooperation with control engineers for the motor control algorithm and AC drive simulation.
- Close cooperation with power electronics engineers for the inverter hardware development.
- Close cooperation with software engineers for the implementation of control algorithm in the embedded software.
- Close cooperation with mechanical engineers for characterization of mechanical load of AC drive and its integration.
- Close cooperation with test engineers for AC Drive testing and performance validation.
- Work on system engineering regarding engine and actuation system requirements, high voltage network architecture, sensors and integration.
- Engineering management of suppliers for externally procured equipment.
- Coordinating lab technicians for general lab management, designing test rigs, generating connection diagrams, safety procedures, test procedures. Performing lab test and collecting data to assess AC drive performance. Adjusting motor control parameters/algorithm to optimize AC drive performance.
- Liaising with component/equipment suppliers to select the best hardware suited for AC drive, servo controllers, sensors or test rig.
- Specification of system, subsystem, and component, interface requirements as per ARP4754
- Specification and support of system validation and verification according to acceptable means of compliance like DO-160
- Support of development of series production processes and process standardization across departments
- Work on ad hoc related tasks or projects provided by technical management as necessary, like preparing analysis reports, writing requirements, supporting test engineers, producing wiring diagrams etc.
Your Profile:
- M.Sc./Eng. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field required
- Experience in High Voltage DC networks, EMC, Grounding and Bonding beneficial
- Min. 5 years of professional experience in AC Drive design and development, including one or more fields of AC motor control methods (FOC, DTC, etc), inverter design, servo controls.
- Hands-on experience with testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of AC drives, embedded software, sensors is required
- Experience in MATLAB/Simulink, C programming, Python beneficial.
- Knowledge of semiconductor technology would be advantageous.
- Experience in requirement management tools, such as Siemens Polarion or IBM Rational Doors would be advantageous

Project description:

- Perform linear aeroelastic simulations.
- Support the development multibody dynamics and the calculation of ground loads.

We are looking to reinforce our EWIS team with a senior level professional, able to cover all EWIS aspects from physical to functional design with consideration of safety, certification and manufacturing. Your role and your team:
You are recognized as an expert in metallic materials processing, including machining, casting, and forging. You have worked with a variety of industrial applications, preferably in aerospace, with an understanding of the surrounding special processes required to deliver metallic components meeting engineering intent. You will analyse metallic microstructure to determine suitability per specification requirements. You will own the process qualification of both internally executed processes (milling, grinding, turning, etc.) and at suppliers from raw material to finished part (casting/forge, conventional machining) to assure their successful industrialization and deliver metallic components to the client. You will evaluate supplier technical data related to manufacturing using this type of technology for the purpose of qualifying these processes for various aircraft components.
Your day to day:
- Develop methods to qualify machining, casting, forging, and other metallic processing technologies for use on the manufacture and supply of all metallic components within the eVTOL, in partnership with the Design Organization engineering teams.
- Write internal operational procedures governing fabrication, inspection, and testing of articles produced with metallic processing technologies.
- Develop and perform methods for executing industrial standard materials properties tests such as metallography and mechanical tests.
- Perform measurements and characterizations of samples during Feasibility Analysis and Process Design and Development phases of industrialization.
- Assure supply of raw metals materials complies with DO Materials and Process requirements as well as industrial norms, perform technical surveillance and testing procedures as necessary, qualify raw material supply.
- Advise Supply Chain organization related technical matters for special process application, technology selection, materials evaluation.
- Independently evaluate supplier technical plans and support the clients Supply Chain Operations and Quality teams in qualifying suppliers using metallic processing technologies as above.
- Perform Special Process qualification activity for internal processes and guide the supply base to do the same, delivering a supplier process that is technically qualified per the Supply Chain Quality Handbook.
- Advise the Design Organization on appropriate materials and processing technique selection during design-for-manufacturing activity and process specification authorship.
Your profile:
- Engineering degree in materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or other technically relevant fields.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in application of metallic materials processing technology, preferably for application to aircraft engine components, with demonstrated impact working both in-house and at suppliers.
- Experience in the aerospace industry required.
- Experience in usage, definition, and problem-solving for machining required. Experience in casting and forging technologies beneficial.
- Proven track record of delivering on own technical responsibilities with or without the support of others, high sense of creativity to navigate organizational, technological, or logistical limitations.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge with high sense of delivery, relentless learning, simplification, clear thinking, and emotional intelligence.
- Excellent project management- and communication skills to unite and inspire stakeholders from different organizations.
- Software/IT skills: Minitab or R statistical analysis is a plus, MS Office, Excel.
- Fluent English language skills and strong English technical writing acumen with proactive drive to share results and educate others.
