Our client is a global leader in transmission technology. An opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join the engineering team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Production Engineer will work alongside a team of design engineers to help facilitate the design-to-manufacturing process.
This position offers extensive avenues for progression.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To undertake CAD modelling and drafting on Siemens NX 3D CAD to Company standards and procedures.
- Be the designated Production Engineer for particular projects, and advise the Designer of those projects on a formal and informal level about relevant Production Engineering issues.
- To regard and apply cost effective manufacturing methods.
- Design and create detail drawings of manufacturing tooling for all projects, when required.
- Attend formal design reviews as appropriate to advise of Production Engineering issues related to a particular project.
- Raise the Engineering Method for all Xtrac and customer individual parts.
- Provide manufacturing advice to Xtrac Engineers.
- Production Engineer customer drawings, including the determining and understanding of specific tooling requirements.
- Liaise with the Gear Technology function for gauges, tools and data.
- To advise corrective action to manufacture queries and non-conformance and advise the responsible designer as appropriate.
- Achieve Quality and Delivery KPI targets.
- To undertake personnel development
- To observe Health and Safety rules at all times
- To follow Company Quality Procedures, Standards and Work Instructions
- To carry out reasonable duties as requested by Management
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Apprentice trained, ideally with a minimum of a HNC
- Manufacturing knowledge
- Understanding of transmission products and quality systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Understanding of 3D modelling and engineering drawings
- At least 3-years experience working within an automotive environment, ideally working directly with automotive OEM manufacturers
- Have awareness of APQP process according to automotive customer requirements

The role:

Key responsibilities will include:
- Defining and executing the requirements of assigned validation programmes using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/programme requirements.
- Working with internal and external customers to develop and maintain robust design verification plans, ensuring traceability of requirements, test data and results meet customer requirements
- Acting as a departmental interface to the Project Management team, formulating the technical direction and decisions for validation programs and technically support the project planning

Skills and experience required_:_
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Sound experience in the use of dynamometers and laboratory equipment to set up tests to take precise measurements of electrical and electromechanical systems
- Knowledge and experience in a range of aspects of electrified powertrains including, power electronics, motor performance and control, analogue, digital and sensing technologies
- Good level of experience using MATLAB or NI tools to perform technical analysis and characterisation including the ability to write custom scripts
- Ability to clearly report progress and results in-person during meetings as well as produce a high standard of written documentation
- Experience of mentoring and leading less experienced engineers
- Willingness to travel as required.

The Role
The successful candidate will work within the Global Services Programme Management team, based in the UK or Ireland. The Programme Management team manage the post-delivery modification of aircraft for their customers and projects they typically manage involve the integration of new equipment into the aircraft, such as seating, IFE equipment and monuments (galleys, lavatories and stowages). They frequently manage multiple stakeholders providing equipment and services to the Customer. Working together with the Engineering, Airworthiness and logistics teams you will manage the execution of the project within the schedule and budgetary constraints agreed. This is a highly visible role, which will require the ability to communicate with team members of all levels of seniority both internal and external. Previous experience of aircraft modification projects would be a distinct advantage and would suit applicants with Programme Management or Project Lead Engineer backgrounds in aerospace environments or MRO’s.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as focal point for the company to worldwide airline customers
- Complete programme ownership of delivery schedule, meeting quality standards, and financial controls from project award to final delivery
- Identify and manage programme risks, issues and opportunities to protect or improve the programme performance.
- Lead internal programme teams to execute the programme requirements.
- Coordinate internal activities to ensure all tasks are progressing in line with the programme requirements.
- Coordinate and lead major milestone meetings with the customer (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI) and compile resulting minutes and action plans.
- Portray the customers’ expectations and requirements to the Engineering team to ensure alignment.
- Provide weekly status updates, milestone schedules and risk analysis summaries.
- Communicate programme status, on-going financial viability and identification of key issues to senior management.
- Manage customer change requests and support proposals for schedule and cost related impacts.
- Initiate invoicing of project payments and follow-up on payments as required.
- Supports the creation of proposals, as required, in response to customer RFPs.
- Acts as a mentor to junior members of the programme management team.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Qualification in Programme Management or equivalent preferred (PMP or CPM, etc.)
- Previous experience of aircraft modification / integration projects would be distinctly advantageous
- Engineering or Programme Management background, ideally within the aerospace industry
- A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience Proficient in all MS Office applications required, including MS Project Ability to travel, sometimes at short notice
- Able to work independently without high levels of supervision (self-motivated, self-starter)
- Ideally have a minimum BS Degree in a STEM field

The Engineering Stores Officer is a new role within a company going through a period of hypergrowth, which will allow you to work with the team to ensure systems and processes are both optimal and compliant.
Working on site, you will be the main contact for deliveries and collections, ensuring deliveries are checked, discrepancies raised, accurate records are kept, and an accurate inventory is maintained.

- Inspect all goods received into the warehouse to ensure they meet the required quality standard.
- Verify quantities and documentation against purchase orders.

- Conduct regular stock checks to ensure accuracy of inventory records
- Work closely with other departments to resolve any issues that may arise with incoming goods.

- Source goods and services required by the company at the best possible price, quality and delivery terms.
- Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and invoices.
