My client is an affordable, real – time DNA amplification system that can act as the basis for rapid detection, quantification, or drug resistance testing of infectious diseases and pathogens, such as Bio-threat agents, TB or Hepatitis, and gene stratification markers for emergency care settings.
They are developing their Point of Care solutions through assay development and product refinement; they have an opportunity to reach millions of people who currently have limited access to existing diagnostic technology. Ultimately, my client has the ability to transform lives through rapid access to the advantages of molecular diagnostics.
Purpose of the role
They are headhunting to reinforce their instrumentation software team to fill a senior / embedded android software development role, with an individual with strong experience in android development ideally gained in medical devices or a similar environment.
The suitable candidate will focus primarily on embedded and off- board software development, verification and validation activities following IEC 62304 within an ISO13485 diagnostic medical device product environment, with participation in methodical code-level legacy software review, optimization and rationalisation, also providing investigation and root-cause analysis for software related technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Embedded Android Engineer, your responsibilities in accordance with ISO13485, IEC62304 and standard applicable software development methodology, will be:
- Secure requirements, decay them and implement as features to our GD Connect App using Kotlin, Android Studio and Java
- Support verification, de-bugging activities, release process and other SW lifecycle components
- Support team leader and act as a scrum master
- Work in partnership with electronics engineers life scientists, product managers and other stakeholders in all aspects of software product design and delivery.
Requirements
- Understanding and experience in Android customization, modification and compilation process
- Android application development and debugging using e.g. Kotlin, Android Studio or Java,
- Experience in leading sprints and conducting scrums
- Demonstrable experience in object oriented design and unit testing
- At least 3 years industry experience in embedded software development experience
- Working experience gained in a regulated environment (e.g. medical device - ISO13485, IEC62304, automotive, aerospace, financial etc.)
- Experience of work within ticketing system, Agile development & source code control
