Divisional Manager, Robotics & Autonomy (EU)

Manchester

Location: Manchester
Reports to: CEO
Market focus: Pan-EU, with a lean towards DACH

Robotics and autonomy is one of the most exciting markets in tech right now, and one of the fastest growing. It’s grown exponentially over the last few years, and the companies building robots, autonomous systems and the AI that drives them are growing and gaining investment across Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Nordics and beyond.

We’ve been in this field for the best part of a decade, back before most tech agencies had thrown their hat in the robotics ring. The best firms in the industry were already relying on us then, and that head start shows in the network we can open up for you.

This is a new leadership role, leading a small but seriously capable team that already has real momentum. There’s a solid book to build upon, the clients are excellent, and there’s masses of room left in the market. We want someone to take it on, shape how the division grows from here, and turn what’s already working into the kind of growth we can keep repeating across Europe.

Consultants who join our AI and robotics divisions tend to hit career-best deals in their first few months, even people who came from markets most would consider more lucrative, like the US, and chose to build the European side with us.

The role, your team, and Cubiq

You’ll lead a lean team of genuinely talented consultants. Some have well over a decade in tech recruitment; others are earlier in their careers, have picked up the market remarkably fast, and are already among our highest billers.

What they share is an appetite for doing things differently, and between them they’ve built some real ways of winning new business and growing their candidate networks. Your job is to sharpen what’s working, set the standard, and turn it into the kind of growth the whole division can and wider business can replicate. It’s hands-on, close to the team and close to the desk.

As a billing leader, you’ll ideally own a skillset yourself and run a multi-disciplinary team across Embedded Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Perception, Machine Learning and more. There’s room to bring your own domain strength and build around it.

You’ll have real autonomy and report straight to a CEO who knows this space inside out. You get to run your market like it’s your own business, backed by a roadmap and a culture that already work well. We’re building this division to last, so we’re not chasing headcount for the sake of it, we’re chasing sustained performance and the solid quality that comes with it.

What you’ll do

  • Take the reins of the team, owning its direction, performance and day-to-day leadership
  • Work directly with the CEO to shape market strategy and the headcount plan behind it
  • Develop the consultants around you, turning strong billers into the team’s next leaders
  • Keep your own desk live as a billing leader, running the full 360 and leading from the front
  • Deepen and grow the client base, moving existing accounts through our partnership models and winning new business off the back of delivery
  • Advise clients on hiring strategy, talent availability and where the market is moving
  • Grow the Robotics & Autonomy division into new subsectors and geographies, turning the team’s best methods into a repeatable standard as you go

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years’ recruitment experience, with a track record of building or elevating high-performing teams
  • Robotics or autonomous systems recruitment experience is preferred, though not essential if you bring strong discipline domain knowledge and the ambition to match
  • A hands-on billing mentality. You set the pace and lead by example
  • Experience developing a client base, including moving clients through different engagement models
  • A strong instinct for business development and growth
  • The ambition to build the leading team in the market and grow it across new subsectors and geographies

What a top performer looks like

The best leaders here grow the desk and the people on it, driven by the goal of being unavoidable in their markets. In this role specifically, that means building on what the team is already doing well, turning strong consultants into the next set of billers and leaders, and keeping your own book live so you lead from the front.

They set the standard by example, know the market well enough to open new subsectors and push into new geographies with a plan behind it, move clients through our models, deepen the accounts that already trust us, and build the kind of reputation that makes the team the first call across the EU.

Over time they make the division theirs, their book grows, the team grows into it, and the market knows it’s yourself and Cubiq behind it.

What’s on offer

  • share scheme allowing you to own a share of what you build
  • A strong base that reflects your experience, plus uncapped commission with no threshold, up to 50%
  • quarterly scheme that accelerates through the year
  • Leadership bonuses tied to your team hitting target, on top of your own billings
  • Well-defined partnership models and the kind of client commitment that moves one-off placements into revenue that keeps building
  • Real investment in getting you embedded in the market: we fly you out to conferences, run our own events, and get you onto client sites face to face
  • An established team and a solid client base to build on from day one
  • High-commitment markets with fewer, bigger, more impactful deals

Don’t see something that matters to you? Let us know. We’re committed to bringing in the best and will be flexible with our offering if it brings us closer to achieving this.
