Cubiq Recruitment are pleased to be working on behalf of a leading home appliances business who are introducing a number of new smart products with internet of things compatibility.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the current product development team and will be vital to the future of the business and will maintain current product platforms and support the new product design team when needed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Project responsibilities will be focused around current product development and with support for other areas of the business including but not limited to new product development and sourced products.)
- Writing product design specifications
- Working with industrial designers to ensure aesthetic and ergonomic requirements are met.
- Testing of current products to establish root cause of issues.
- Define materials to be used in manufacturing process
- Concept design and layout of products to meet cost and functional requirements.
- Leading design and development activities on projects
- Internal design reviews (DFMEA/ Risk Analysis)
- Liaise with quality, purchasing, product management, customer service and suppliers to define appropriate specifications for manufacture.
Required Experience
- 3D CAD and solid modelling experience (solidworks)
- 2Ddrawings for production to BS8888
- Basic proficiency of simulation (FEA)
- Legacy CAD systems (Ideas / NX/ Teamcentre)
- Design for Manufacture / Design for Assembly
- Plastic injection moulding components for volume manufacture
- Electromechanical design, including PCB's switches and motors
