Calculation Engineer - Thermal Systems
Duration: 12 months
Working on-site is required – Munich, Germany
Your role and your team:
You will report to the Multiphysics Team Lead and work closely with the Lead Thermal Management Engineer.
Our Calculation team works alongside highly qualified engineers using low and high-fidelity calculation and optimization methods to ensure our aircraft and systems achieve our performance targets. We use state-of-the-art systems to deliver rapid results and encourage innovative thinking to achieve the best solutions.
We are looking for an outstanding Thermal Calculation Engineer to join our innovative team that will shape the future of urban e-mobility.
Your Day to Day:
  • Building a complete digital model of the aircraft's thermal management systems based on 0D-1D modeling integrating all relevant components, systems and heat sinks/sources
  • Drive concept and design optimization based on simulation, and analysis of the aircraft’s environmental control/ thermal management system
  • Pragmatic evaluation of thermal management concepts with the idealization of physical effects and first principles reasoning
  • Implement and analyze control strategies
  • Derive and integrate simplified models from high fidelity models
  • Specify thermal margins as well as operation procedures
  • Assess and define thermal management requirements
  • Provide detailed reports for certification purposes
  • Actively support shaping processes in the department
  • Work on ad hoc related tasks or projects provided by management
Your Profile:
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field required
  • 2+ years experience in a similar position, working with thermal networks and reduced-order modeling (0D-1D), simulation, and analysis of thermal management systems (preferably HVAC)
  • Experience with vapour compression system modelling is required
  • 2+ years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is beneficial
  • Work experience with thermal network solvers (Amesim, Simscape, Kuli, GT Suite, EBSILON Profesional) is required
  • Strong motivation to help build structures and processes is required
  • Clear communicator and team player
  • High level of self-reliance and an autonomous, target-oriented work style is a must
  • Fluent English language skills are essential
