Brief

With one of their team members relocating to the US and a growing workload, Kinomica needed to backfill a senior bioinformatician role.

Challenges

The position required extensive experience in proteomics, as well as specific knowledge of phosphoproteomic data, making it an especially hard role to fill.

Conventional sourcing methods were ineffective, as most candidates don’t specifically list phosphoproteomics on their CVs or LinkedIn profiles. This meant keyword searches and traditional sourcing strategies had failed to uncover relevant talent.

Approach

  • We began to identify and enagage individuals with published work in phosphoproteomics, bypassing traditional sourcing routes.
  • Maintained a high-touch candidate experience, ensuring we maintained engagement, minimised drop-outs between stages and continously sold the opportunity at Kinomica.
  • Within a week we identified 3 candidates through academic publication tracking, adding one further from network referrals.
  • Collaborated closely with the hiring manager on evaluation criteria to assess technical fit and research alignment.
  • Kept momentum through to offer, which was extended and accepted within 25 days from the search commencing.
